Short answer: yes and no. Zany sits in Fortnite's Rare tier, but it is not hard to find. It has come back to the Item Shop many times since 2018.

"Rare" is a tier, not a promise of scarcity

Fortnite sorts cosmetics into rarity tiers. Rare is the blue middle tier and mostly reflects the price band, 500 V-Bucks for an emote like this one. It doesn't mean the item is hard to come by.

Zany has been in the shop on 64 separate days since 2018. The gaps between appearances have ranged from a day to more than a year, so it is neither a constant fixture nor a vaulted item.

How to get the Zany emote

1. Wait for the Item Shop. Zany rotates in on its own from time to time for 500 V-Bucks. Shop trackers let you set reminders for specific items.
2. Look out for creator bundles. According to the Fortnite Wiki it has also been part of hand-picked creator Locker Bundles, including Zagou's (July 2023), Giova's (September 2023) and Rizart's (May 2025).
